Heft vs the alternatives

An honest look at how Heft compares to AI visibility platforms and to the SEO tools you already pay for — including the cases where something else is the better choice.

The short answer

If you’re skimming, this is the whole page.

Which one you want depends on what you’re trying to do

  • Choose Heftif you want to know what to fix, not just what your score is — and you need evidence you can hand to a client or a CMO.
  • Choose a rank trackerif your buyers still find you through blue links and you're measuring keyword position. That's a different problem, and Ahrefs or Semrush solve it better than we do.
  • Choose an enterprise platformif you need crawler-level analytics, agent workflows, and procurement-grade contracts across a large organisation. We're not built for that yet.
  • Choose nothingif you have no idea whether AI matters to your category. Run a free check first and find out before you buy anything, including ours.

When Heft isn’t the right choice

Three situations where we’d point you elsewhere.

01

You need enterprise procurement today

SSO, SOC 2, and custom contracts are on the roadmap rather than shipped. If your security review starts before your trial does, the established platforms will get you through it and we won't.

02

Your buyers don't use AI yet

Some categories genuinely aren't there. Run a free check before you commit to anything — if the answers barely mention your category at all, spend the budget on the channel that's actually working.

03

You want one number for a board slide

AI answers are non-deterministic, so we report a pattern across runs and show the variance. If you need a single stable figure that never wobbles, you'd have to take one from a tool that's smoothing over the same problem.

Why we published this

Our own research found that comparison pages get cited 3.2 times more often by AI engines than product or feature pages on the same domain. It would be strange to tell customers that and not have one ourselves.

It also means this page is a working example of the advice. If you’re wondering what the highest-priority action in your own Heft account is likely to look like, it’s often something close to this: an honest comparison against the alternatives your buyers are already weighing.

Honest is the operative word. Pages that overclaim get contradicted by the review sites and forums that carry the other 81% of citations, and the models notice.
